Introduction
In this universe, all supernatural beings co-exist on earth together with humans and have been always there. While their existence is accepted as a fact of life, societal prejudices, laws, and power struggles create an intricate world where myths, truths, and biases intertwine. Each supernatural race brings its own challenges and strengths, contributing to a society that is both diverse and deeply divided.
Supernatural Beings and Their Societal Roles
Angels
Unlike demons, angels are glorified and widely accepted, often placed in positions of power due to their perceived purity and morality. Most angels have large, feathered wings that range fromwhite and shimmering gold to darker shades of gray or even black, depending on their alignment or history. Their halos are not physical objects but radiant circles of energy, which can grow brighter or dimmer based on their emotions or power level. Halo shape and style is formed based on how they grew up and how they are, much like their wings. Angelic eyes are piercing, often in hues of silver, icy blue, or radiant gold, and their voices carry an almost hypnotic resonance. Some angels appear ethereal, their skin glowing faintly under certain lighting conditions. Their blood is often rumored to have healing properties, though this is largely a myth.
Angels are in fact worse than demons as they tend to get a power trip due to being idolized and glorified. The stereotype is that they are pure, perfect, innocent, good, etc. Due to this, a lot of angels tend to take advantage of those who worship them and may even toy with them for their own entertainment or to gain more power. Angels are known to be problematic and often have scandals going on around them, though most turn a blind eye and choose to believe it isn’t true. Their natural life span is thousands of years much like demons.
Chimeras
Chimeras are hybrid creatures, often the result of either ancient experimentation, magical fusion, or genetic mutation. They possess a mixture of traits from multiple species, making each chimera unique. Some may have feline eyes, feathered wings, and reptilian tails, while others may combine mammalian, avian, and even aquatic features. Their appearances are often unsettling, as mismatched body parts create an unnatural yet oddly beautiful aesthetic. Some chimeras can shift their dominant traits at will, while others are permanently locked into their hybridized forms.
Chimeras face significant challenges in gaining societal acceptance. Many view them as unnatural abominations or living mistakes, leading to widespread discrimination. While some chimeras attempt to integrate into regular society, others are forced into underground factions, where they create their own communities free from prejudice. Despite the stigma, chimeras have proven themselves invaluable in numerous fields. Their diverse physiology makes them excellent athletes, warriors, and spies, as their hybridized traits allow them to adapt to various situations. Some work in medical research, offering insight into cross-species genetics, while others become performers, using their unique appearances to captivate audiences. Laws regarding chimeras vary widely—some countries outlaw their creation entirely, while others regulate their rights as a separate class of citizens. Due to their rarity and the controversy surrounding their existence, chimeras continue to struggle for recognition and equality.
Demons
Their most common traits include horns, which come in various shapes such as curved, spiraled, or jagged. Some demons have tails, often prehensile and adorned with barbs or spade-shaped tips. Their eyes may glow in the dark, displaying unnatural hues like crimson, violet, or even molten gold. Their skin tones range from human-like shades to deep blues, purples, and even fiery reds. Some demons possess bat-like wings, though flight is not a universal trait. Arcane markings may appear on their skin, pulsating in response to their emotions or magical abilities. Their longevity allows them to remain youthful for centuries, aging at an incredibly slow rate.
Demons by far are the rarest species due to the demon population is very small due to increased violence against them but their naturall life span is thousands of years. Demons have their own unique personalities. Demons are stereotyped to be cunning, mal-intented, evil, sinister, tricksters, among other things. Note these stereotypes ARE NOT true. Due to historic purges and violent discrimination, their population remains small. Laws in certain nations restrict demons from holding government positions or owning businesses, and in some places, interspecies relationships involving demons are stigmatized.
Faes (Faeries)
Fae, often referred to as faeries, are among the most influential supernatural beings in the realms of art, entertainment, and high fashion. Their natural charisma, enticing presence, and mastery of illusionary magic make them highly sought after in these industries. Their beauty has set unattainable aesthetic standards that many attempt to mimic, leading to both admiration and resentment from other species.
Faes are often viewed with a mixture of awe and suspicion. Their ability to weave intricate illusions and manipulate perception causes many to distrust them. Throughout history, fae have been infamous for making deceptive bargains—deals that, while seemingly beneficial, often come with unintended consequences. Some humans eagerly seek fae blessings, believing in their ability to bring prosperity or artistic genius, while others fear being tricked into one-sided pacts. This dual reputation has led to legal restrictions on fae contracts in certain regions, requiring written agreements that are subject to human and supernatural legal oversight.
Ghosts
Ghosts exist in a liminal state between life and death. They manifest in varying degrees of tangibility, with some appearing as transparent apparitions while others maintain nearly solid forms. Their appearances often reflect the state they were in at death, with some bearing visible wounds or ethereal distortions. Ghosts are bound to the physical realm either by unfinished business, strong emotions, or supernatural interference. Some retain their memories and personalities, while others become lost echoes of their former selves, wandering aimlessly through the world.
The existence of ghosts is both a source of fascination and fear. In some cultures, they are revered as spiritual guides and keepers of history, while in others, they are seen as unnatural disturbances that must be exorcised. Governments have implemented spectral rights laws, granting certain ghosts legal recognition if they can demonstrate stable consciousness and self-control. Some ghosts integrate into society as historians, detectives, or advisors, using their ability to access forgotten knowledge. Others struggle with their intangible nature, finding it difficult to interact with the material world.
Despite the progress in ghost rights, many still face hostility. Some businesses refuse to serve spectral customers, and certain religious groups advocate for forced exorcisms. There are also concerns about malevolent spirits that seek to manipulate or harm the living, leading to heavy regulations on necromantic practices. The line between an accepted ghost and a dangerous poltergeist is often blurred, forcing many ghosts into secrecy or reliance on supernatural advocates for protection.
Ghouls
Ghouls are often mistaken for undead beings due to their eerie, corpse-like appearances and their unnatural hunger for flesh. Their skin is usually pallid or gray, sometimes appearing leathery or decayed. Their eyes glow faintly in the dark, and their sharp, elongated teeth are suited for consuming raw meat. While ghouls do not require human flesh to survive, they suffer from an insatiable hunger that grows stronger the longer they abstain. Some ghouls retain a more human-like appearance, but their unnatural longevity and ability to regenerate quickly expose their true nature.
Despite their monstrous reputation, ghouls play a crucial role in society. Many work in morgues, forensic investigations, or crime scene analysis, using their ability to track decaying flesh and understand decomposition. Some ghouls even serve as body disposal specialists, ensuring that remains are ethically handled. However, due to historical associations with cannibalism and grave-robbing, ghouls are heavily discriminated against. Many are forced into underground communities or live in exile, finding it difficult to obtain legal rights or citizenship in human-majority cities. Some religious groups believe ghouls are an affront to nature and campaign against their right to exist, while more progressive societies attempt to integrate them with strict dietary regulations. The ongoing stigma forces many ghouls to hide their true nature, blending into the shadows to avoid persecution.
Humans
As the dominant population, humans hold varying views on supernatural beings. Physically, they lack the enhanced abilities of other races but are the most diverse in appearance. Their skin tones, hair colors, and eye shapes vary widely across ethnicities and regions. Unlike supernatural beings, humans are more susceptible to aging, disease, and physical harm.
Human-led governments enforce supernatural regulations, such as demon registration laws and full-moon curfews for werewolves. At the same time, human advocacy groups work towards equality, pushing for anti-discrimination laws to protect non-human citizens.
Nagas
Nagas are an ancient and highly intelligent species, characterized by their striking appearance and natural prowess in both academia and combat. Their upper bodies are humanoid, with smooth skin and sharp, defined features, while their lower halves consist of a long, snake like tail covered in shimmering scales. Their coloration varies widely, from emerald green and sapphire blue to deep obsidian or even iridescent gold. Some nagas possess venomous fangs capable of paralyzing their victims, while others have hypnotic eyes that can lull prey or enemies into a trance.
Nagas hold a unique place in society. Their wisdom and sharp intellect make them revered scholars, historians, and advisors. They are often sought after for their extensive knowledge of ancient texts, poisons, and warfare. Many nagas serve as elite warriors, particularly in militarized factions that value their raw power and agility. However, despite their contributions, nagas are often stereotyped as cunning and deceitful, leading to deep-seated distrust among other species. In some regions, they govern their own secretive enclaves, preferring to self-rule rather than integrate fully into mainstream society.
Necromancers
Necromancers walk a fine line between necessity and condemnation. Their ability to communicate with the dead and manipulate spiritual energy makes them invaluable in fields such as forensic investigations, morgue operations, and hospital work. Many necromancers find employment as spiritual consultants, offering closure to grieving families or helping law enforcement solve cold cases by summoning echoes of the deceased. However, their intimate connection to death and decay has led to widespread fear and prejudice.
Religious institutions are among the most vocal opponents of necromancy, often equating their practices with unnatural meddling in divine affairs. Some sects advocate for the complete prohibition of necromantic magic, resulting in restrictive laws that prevent necromancers from openly practicing in certain areas. In regions where their abilities are more accepted, they still face heavy regulations, requiring special licenses to perform any form of resurrection or spirit summoning. As a result, many necromancers live on the fringes of society, forming secretive communities where they can practice their craft without persecution.
Shapeshifters
Shapeshifters navigate one of the most complex social landscapes due to the inherent nature of their abilities. Their talent for seamlessly altering their appearance makes them valuable assets in espionage, undercover law enforcement, and performance arts. Some shapeshifters use their skills in theater and film, providing an unparalleled ability to embody any character. Others are recruited into government agencies or corporate security, where their talents are leveraged for intelligence gathering and surveillance.
However, this same adaptability has also made them prime suspects in criminal activities. Shapeshifters are often accused of identity theft, fraud, and deception, leading to a pervasive distrust from other species. Many face discrimination in the workforce, with employers hesitant to hire them for fear of potential infiltration or duplicity. To counteract this stigma, some regions have enacted laws requiring shapeshifters to register their true forms with government agencies, a measure that many view as invasive and discriminatory. This has led to ongoing civil rights debates, as shapeshifters fight for the right to privacy and equal treatment.
Sirens
Sirens’ melodic voices have an almost hypnotic quality, allowing them to influence emotions, enhance performances, and even subtly manipulate thoughts. This makes them highly sought after in entertainment industries, particularly as singers, diplomats, and public speakers. Many sirens have built successful careers in music and media, using their abilities to entrance audiences and convey emotions in ways that other beings cannot.
However, their powers also come with significant restrictions. Due to historical fears of mind control and coercion, sirens are subject to strict regulations in politics, law, and media. Many governments require sirens in influential positions to undergo regular screenings to ensure they are not abusing their abilities. Some regions even enforce voice-suppressing enchantments in courtrooms or government proceedings to prevent undue influence. Despite these measures, sirens continue to face public suspicion, with many questioning whether their words and actions are genuine or carefully orchestrated manipulations.
Traditionally, sirens have the upper body of a beautiful woman, often with long, flowing hair, a mesmerizing appearance, and enchanting voices. Their lower body is of a fish or a mermaid tail, making them sea creatures that lore sailers to their death, many depictions emphasize that sirens have captivating or mesmerizing eyes, often said to hold a magical or hypnotic quality that draws people toward them.
Vampires
Vampires are also very rare like demons due to the stigma surrounding them for how they are forced to live. Vampires are known for their pale complexions and nocturnal nature, and have distinct physical characteristics that set them apart. Their fangs are retractable but extend instinctively when hunger strikes. Their eyes tend to be shades of red, amber, or violet. Their skin, while cold to the touch, remains flawless and free from blemishes due to their regenerative abilities. Prolonged exposure to sunlight causes visible burns and, in extreme cases, rapid decomposition. Many vampires wear long clothing and tinted eyewear to protect themselves during daylight hours.
Vampires can survive easily off of other animals’ blood and pig’s blood is considered a delicacy as it’s the most similar blood to human blood. Despite widespread distrust, vampires contribute significantly to society, particularly in medicine and scientific research. Some even work in blood banks, ensuring ethical sourcing of blood substitutes. However, old myths persist, labeling them as dangerous predators rather than complex beings seeking survival.
Werewolves
Werewolves, more common than demons and vampires, are characterized by their unique blend of human and wolf traits. In human form, they often have sharper canines, thick hair, and heightened musculature. Their eyes tend to retain the wolf-like colors of yellow, silver, or deep brown even when they are not transformed. They possess heightened senses, particularly smell and hearing, allowing them to detect emotions and track scents over long distances.
During a full moon, their transformation into wolf-like creatures is inevitable unless they have undergone rigorous training to control it. In their wolf form, they range from towering, bipedal beasts with extended claws and thick fur to fully quadrupedal wolves with increased strength and size. Their transformations are painful, with bones restructuring and muscles expanding rapidly. They have more prominent personalities, so werewolves often integrate well into society, using their heightened charisma and pack mentality to thrive in leadership roles.

The Backrooms is a popular urban legend and creepypasta that describes a vast, seemingly infinite maze of empty, yellow-lit office spaces, damp carpets, and a low, monotonous hum. It is a surreal, liminal space that exists outside of normal reality, a place one can accidentally "noclip" into by slipping through the cracks of existence. Walking into the wrong door and finding yourself somewhere unfamiliar. Falling asleep in a public place and waking up alone in the Backrooms. Experiencing déjà vu in an empty location and suddenly finding yourself trapped. In rare cases, people seek out the Backrooms, attempting to glitch into them intentionally.

Tenebris
Tenebris: The Devourer of LightIn the forgotten corners of reality, where shadows stretch longer than they should and the air is thick with silence, Tenebris waits. It is not a creature in the traditional sense—it is an absence, a void where existence falters. Some say it was born from the first nightfall, an echo of the darkness before creation. Others whisper that it was once human, swallowed by the abyss and reshaped into something far worse. The Presence of Tenebris
Tenebris does not hunt in the way beasts do; it is patient. It lingers in the periphery of vision, a formless void wrapped in a shifting veil. Its arrival is marked by an unnatural dimming of light—candles flicker out, screens distort into static, and even the moon hides behind thick clouds. Those who sense its approach describe an overwhelming weight in their chest, as if the darkness itself is pressing down on them. The Whispering Dark
They say Tenebris does not speak, but if you listen closely, you might hear the faintest whisper—your own voice, distorted and wrong. It does not attack outright; it erodes. Memories unravel, faces blur, and even the strongest minds begin to question whether they ever existed at all. The more you acknowledge it, the more it becomes real. The Fate of Those Who See It
There are no survivors of Tenebris, only disappearances. Rooms left undisturbed except for a lingering black mist. Journals with frantic, half-scribbled warnings that trail off mid-sentence. Phone recordings filled with static and faint, rasping breaths. The last thing they see is the shifting darkness, the veiled figure lifting a single finger to where its lips should be—shhh. Some believe it feeds on fear. Others think it collects those who see it, dragging them beyond the veil into a place where light has never existed. Whatever the truth, one rule remains: never look too long into the dark, for the dark may begin to look back.
Entity 717 - Xal’thir
Entity 717 - "Xal’thir"Description
Entity 717, known as Xal’thir, is a towering, draped figure found in the deeper, uncharted levels of the Backrooms—particularly in areas where light flickers unnaturally, and time distorts in imperceptible ways. Its form is enshrouded in flowing, tattered white cloth, stitched with golden seams that pulse faintly like dying embers. Beneath the veil, its features are obscured save for dimly glowing eyes, which seem to follow wanderers even when the entity remains motionless. The most striking feature of Xal’thir is its right arm, which appears to be composed of charred, cracked obsidian-like flesh, threaded with veins of shimmering gold ichor. This limb is believed to be a remnant of its former state—an angelic being that succumbed to the decaying properties of the Backrooms.Behavior
Xal’thir does not actively hunt wanderers but is drawn to those who linger in its domain for too long. Its movements are slow and deliberate, with a presence that warps the air around it, making breathing feel heavier in its proximity. The entity rarely speaks, but when it does, its voice is described as an overlapping chorus of whispers, each one uttering different, cryptic warnings.Encounters with Xal’thir follow a pattern:
- First, lights begin to dim and flicker in rhythmic pulses.
- Second, a deep hum reverberates through the surroundings, distorting sound and inducing vertigo.
- Finally, Xal’thir manifests, watching but never rushing toward its victims. If provoked or gazed upon for too long, its blackened hand will reach out, phasing through physical surfaces to grasp its victim. Those who are touched by this limb wither into golden dust, leaving behind only an echo of their last breath.Habitat(s)
Xal’thir has been reported in:
- Level 717 (The Gilded Sanctum): A cathedral-like space with infinite, crumbling golden pillars and an eerie white glow that seems to originate from nowhere.
- Level 404 (The Lost Threshold): A void-like zone that randomly connects to other levels but is nearly impossible to navigate.
- The Threshold Veil: A rumored transitional space between major levels, where time fractures and looping corridors form paradoxes.Theories & Origins
Survivors and lost records speak of Xal’thir as a former "warden" of the Backrooms, possibly a celestial or divine being that was meant to oversee its boundaries. Some believe that prolonged exposure to the non-Euclidean nature of the Backrooms corrupted it, fracturing its essence between light and shadow.Others claim that Xal’thir is neither friend nor foe but rather a sentinel of balance, erasing anomalies that threaten the Backrooms' fragile existence. This would explain its tendency to appear near areas where reality is breaking down.Survival Guide
- Do not make direct eye contact for more than 6 seconds.
- Do not acknowledge its whispers. Many claim that responding or reacting causes Xal’thir to take interest in them.
- If the lights begin to flicker in a pattern, leave immediately. This is a sign of Xal’thir’s presence stabilizing.
- Golden dust in the air = danger. It means Xal’thir has already claimed a victim nearby. Many who vanish in the Backrooms without a trace are suspected to have been taken by Xal’thir.Behavioral Patterns & Psychological Influence
Xal’thir is a passive yet oppressive entity. Unlike many hostile entities in the Backrooms, it does not chase or lunge at prey. Instead, it imposes a psychological decay on those who remain in its vicinity for too long.- Phase 1: The Lingering Presence
- Affected individuals experience a growing sense of being watched, even when no movement is detected.
- Peripheral vision distorts, creating the illusion of moving shadows within the folds of Xal’thir’s robes.
- Subtle auditory hallucinations manifest—whispers of loved ones, past regrets, or forgotten memories.- Phase 2: The Warped Reality Effect
- Time perception begins to collapse. Wanderers report feeling as if only minutes have passed when in reality, hours (or even days) have gone by.
- Light sources begin to dim, their glow stretching unnaturally, forming strange golden fractures in the environment.
- Objects appear duplicated, misplaced, or slightly off—as though reality itself is misaligning around Xal’thir’s presence.- Phase 3: The Golden Requiem (Final Stage, irreversible)
- The afflicted individual begins to crystallize from the inside out. Golden filaments spread beneath the skin, resembling intricate fractal veins.
- Speech becomes disjointed, as victims begin muttering fragmented phrases spoken by Xal’thir in the past.
- Within minutes, the individual collapses into a pile of golden dust, their consciousness seemingly absorbed into Xal’thir’s whispers.---
Theories & Cult Worship- The Gilded Choir:
A rumored group of wanderers who worship Xal’thir as a divine entity of "ascension." They believe that allowing themselves to be consumed will "unshackle them from the Backrooms" and transcend existence itself. Members of the Gilded Choir are known to be found in golden-robed garments, chanting soft prayers in unknown languages when near areas of Xal’thir’s manifestation.- The Lost Warden Theory:
Some backrooms scholars speculate that Xal’thir was once a guardian of the Backrooms, responsible for keeping its unstable fabric in check. If this theory holds, its corrupted state suggests something more powerful has broken free or is slowly rewriting the Backrooms' core reality.- The Consumption Cycle:
A few surviving documents hint that Xal’thir is not just consuming wanderers—it may be absorbing their memories, allowing it to grow stronger and persist outside its usual domains. If true, this means that over time, Xal’thir is expanding, gaining the ability to manifest in levels where it was previously unheard of.---Encounters & Notable Reports1. "The Whispering Hall Incident" (Level 717, 2004)
- A group of five wanderers attempted to map Level 717 but found themselves trapped in a spiraling cathedral-like hallway.
- The walls began to exude golden mist, and one member started speaking in an unknown dialect, their voice overlapping with multiple tones.
- Within minutes, their skin blackened and cracked, revealing gold-etched veins before they collapsed into dust.
- The remaining members escaped by walking backward, avoiding direct sight of Xal’thir until the hallway looped back to Level 4.2. "The Fractured Reflection" (Threshold Veil, 2019)
- A wanderer reported seeing Xal’thir’s reflection in a puddle of stagnant water, despite it not being physically present.
- As they stepped away, their reflection did not move with them, instead tilting its head and mouthing silent words.
- The wanderer fled but later suffered vivid hallucinations of golden hands reaching from walls and ceilings.
- They vanished days later, with only a golden stain left on their last known resting place.---Survival Strategies & Countermeasures- Reflected Sight Avoidance: If Xal’thir is seen in mirrors, puddles, or reflective surfaces, do not acknowledge it. Breaking eye contact immediately may sever its connection.
- Golden Dust as a Warning Sign: If golden dust is present in the air, turn around and leave immediately—Xal’thir has already claimed a victim nearby.
- Time Anchoring Method: Keeping a reliable analog clock or other stable timekeeping device may help resist its temporal distortion effects.
- Evasion Technique: If lights flicker in a pulse-like pattern, walk backward while keeping Xal’thir in peripheral vision. Many survivors claim this prevents direct confrontation.
